I have done a lot of research over the past few years and I know how difficult it can be to find the right jobs. Jobs that actually pay you well. Some gigs you get offered will be underpaid, but possibly an opportunity to move into a new area of freelance. For example, I built my portfolio with articles I wrote for a few companies. They were only willing to pay me $5.00 for 800 words. I didn’t know any better at this time and was a babe in the woods with regards to freelance writing. What I did do was build up my experience, references, and a portfolio. I became published and that is what companies want to see. They want to know your name is out there, and that you are committed to a job well written.
So, when times feel tough, all is not lost. Keep building your portfolio and then start submitting to the bigger guys. Check out some of my favorite freelance job sites.
and don’t forget to check out the famous Craigslist where you will find loads of links to full time and project gigs! Good luck!
